Dental isolation that’s easier for you and comfortable for patients

With almost half of UK adults fearing the dentist, it’s our duty as dental professionals to implement products and solutions that can make their visits more comfortable. But where are the pressure points and how can we alleviate them?

One obvious discomfort comes from stop/start dentistry, with intermittent stops for HV suction and replacing cotton rolls. Patients become uncomfortable in the dental chair, having to hold their mouths open for lengthy periods, whilst we try to position the mirror for cheek retraction, keeping the tongue out of the way, and light reflection, not to mention actually being able to see while carrying out a dental procedure at the same time.

Thankfully, help is (quite literally) at hand – simply by using a dryfield isolation system. Successfully reducing procedure time and greatly improving patient comfort, it’s just like having an extra pair of hands in your surgery, offering hi-volume suction and isolation, tongue and cheek retractors and a bite block all in one.

It’s win-win all round

Now you, your assistants and your patients can all benefit from work with more space and experiencing less stress when gaining access to the working field. With this new method, you can start to use your mirror purely for vision as the dryfield isolation system effectively retracts the patient’s tongue and cheek, using the vacuum channels built into the mouthpiece to remove water and saliva. With a dry, isolated environment, you gain a clearer vision of the area requiring treatment.

Comfort for the patient

Patient acceptance is greatly improved with the use of a dryfield system, and they needn’t worry about discomfort either; they can just lie back and relax as the isolation system comfortably keeps the mouth open and tongue and cheeks out of the way. It also substantially reduces the need for the nurse to aspirate, successfully bringing more comfort and less stress to the patient during treatment and allowing the nurse to prepare materials and do other things other than hold a suction tube in the mouth.

The result – faster procedures, fewer interruptions, more efficient use of chair time, less stress and happier, more comfortable patients. You’ll wonder how you ever managed without one!
